A classic always delivers.
Today, I’m bringing back
one of my tips with a refresh.
Do You Start With "You"?
"You do it all the time."
That doesn’t sound great, does it?
When we hear "you" at the beginning of a sentence,
we often brace ourselves for a complaint or accusation,
making it hard to truly listen.
Instead, flip the script!
Start with "I"
and express how you feel,
what you need,
or what matters most to you.
For example:
Original: "You are very late."
Better: "I was worried when you weren't here."
The next time you catch yourself starting with “you,”
reframe it to kick off with “I.”
You’ll open the door for better communication!
