More of the Same Isn't Better

Communication can be too much.
It also can be ineffective.
Did you know that miscommunication costs US Businesses $1.2 trillion* each year?
So what can we do about it?
1. Try another channel. If you are in your 3rd round of angry emails or texts, then it is time to pause. Try a phone call, a voice note, or an in person meet-up. It is important for the other person to hear ‘how’ you are saying it.
2. Check in. When you have a group meeting to describe a project, to identify the deliverables, and to state the goals, follow it up with a written summary. Then, call or meet-up with each person to confirm your intended message was received as intended.
These suggestions will take extra effort and time, and yet, it will be worth it.
More of the same isn’t better.
What is better?
Be intentional with how you deliver the message.
