Delay The Send

Writer: Leslie NydickLeslie Nydick

There are moments when I feel the heat rising inside of me.

It starts while reading words that trigger tension and stress.

As I write an angry reply, I stop.

THEN, I remember my next step.

It is: delay the send.

I might need an hour, or even overnight.

I sometimes consult a friend or a colleague.

The most important step is the delay.

If you have ever experienced this, you know why.

When our emotions are escalated, that is when we need to pause.

The next time you read something that triggers strong feelings...

...consider it a reminder to delay the send.

BONUS TIP: How we manage our hot buttons can also be helpful for those times when you receive an email that triggers negative emotions. Watch my less-then-1-minute-video HERE.
