Change The Question

Writer's picture: Leslie NydickLeslie Nydick

The way we ask a question impacts

how someone hears it,

how they interpret it,

and how they respond to it.

If you ask: do you have any questions?

The response is often a no.

Change it to: I know you have questions, and what are they?

You will get more questions.

If you ask: hi-how-are-you?

The response will be fine, good, or some other one word answer.

Change it to: What went well today?

You will learn more about their day.

Our choice of words has impact.

Other factors include how you say the words,

and the expression on your face.

When you want more communication,

Change The Question.
